AKIPRESS.COM - The leadership of the Chinese TBEA company, which has built the Dushanbe Thermal Power Plant-2, declared that the Government of Tajikistan agreed to provide the company rights to develop new gold mines.
The Tajik side is expected to do so if profits from the East Duoba and Upper Kumarg do not cover the costs spent for construction of the Thermal Power Plant.
The Chinese company got rights for development of the two above-named deposits in exchange for construction of the Dushanbe CHPP-2.
The TBEA received a loan from the Chinese Eximbank in the amount of $349 million and built the Dushanbe CHPP-2 in 2016.
Zhang Xin, Chairman at Tbea Co Ltd. told in the interview with the stcn.com that the Tajik authorities agreed to give the company rights to develop other gold mines. In addition, Tajikistan issued a license to the TBEA for development of coal mines on the territory of the country.
However, according to Rahmonbek Bahtdavlatov, Deputy Chief of Tajikglavgeology, the Chinese side refused from coal mine development considering it unprofitable.
