Iran finds TAPI improbable and ready to transfer Turkmen gas to Pakistan

AKIPRESS.COM - Deputy Petroleum Minister of Iran announced that his country is ready for transfer the Turkmen gas to Pakistan, IRNA reports.

Hamidreza Araqi made the remarks while referring to improbability of completing Turkmenistan–Afghanistan–Pakistan–India Pipeline (TAPI).

'Due to Iran's position in the region, we can be a partner in any pipeline which passes through the country,' he said.

Iran is the best route for transferring Turkmenistan gas to Pakistan, Araqi said adding that the country can carry out this process very fast.

Iran is now swapping Turkmenistan gas bound for Azerbaijan on the basis of which the country receives Turkmen gas at its border and deliver the same amount of gas to Azerbaijan.

The Turkmenistan–Afghanistan–Pakistan–India Pipeline, also known as Trans-Afghanistan Pipeline, is a natural gas pipeline being developed by the Galkynysh – TAPI Pipeline Company Limited with participation of the Asian Development Bank.
