Exhibition showcases replicas of letters of Mongolian Great Khans

AKIPRESS.COM - An exhibition showcasing replicas of letters, sent by Mongolian Great Khaans to foreign emperors and rulers opened today at Statehood History Museum on the occasion of ‘National Language and Script Day’ which is annually organized under the auspices of the President of Mongolia, the Montsame reported.

Original letters are preserved in different places such as the Vatican Secret Archives and the German National Library.

Z.Enkhbold, Chief of the Office of the President: “These letters sent by the descendants of Great Chinggis Khaan are not only priceless heritages of language and culture, but also historic evidence of Mongolian State Protocol. This exhibition is special in a way it is showcasing a whole collection of replicas, and has a great significance in awakening children and youth’s pride in their mother language and culture”.

A calligrapher, art expert E.Ariunbold created the replicas using same types of calligraphy and design of the original letters meanwhile making them as individual art pieces. All letters, including 3.02-meter long letter of Argun Khaan, were replicated according to their respective original sizes.
