Turkmenistan proposes highway for Central Asia to access Turkey

AKIPRESS.COM - Turkmenistan attaches particular importance to participation of the United Nations in transport cooperation, President Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov said at the international forum “The Great Silk Road: Towards New Heights of Development”, the state news agency of Turkmenistan said.

Turkmenistan always emphasizes the need for closer cooperation and partnership with the specialized structures of the United Nations, primarily the United Nations Economic Commission for Europe (UNECE) and the United Nations Economic and Social Commission for Asia and the Pacific (ESCAP), the Turkmen leader said.

Based on the experience of the International Road Transport Union, Turkmenistan proposes the UNECE and ESCAP to discuss the possibility of creating the modal highway for Central Asia with the access to Turkey, President Berdimuhamedov stated.
