AKIPRESS.COM - Amid today's challenging situation, we must cooperate rather than compete and strive for the hegemony, President of Tajikistan Emomali Rahmon said today speaking at the opening ceremony of the international conference "Fighting terrorism and a violent extremism" in Dushanbe.

"Undoubtedly, ensuring peace, stability and security of the countries is one of the key factors and the most important condition for establishing and promoting a constructive process for sustainable development at the international and regional levels," he said.

The head of state reminded that more than 10,000 civilians were injured in hostilities and terrorist acts last year, about 4,000 were killed, including 32 percent were children and 53 percent were women and children.

In this regard, Rahmon said that no country in the world alone is able to achieve success in fighting the growing threats to security, ensure peace and stability.

“Tajikistan is the natural ally of all the nations of the world, international and regional organizations in the fight against terrorism, extremism, radicalism and other threats and challenges of our time, such as drug trafficking, transnational organized crime and cyber-crime”.
