AKIPRESS.COM - The 9 millionth resident of Tajikistan was born on May 26 in the capital city, local media said.

The girl's mother is a 28-year-old woman, who works as a specialist in the Labor and Employment Agency of Tajikistan. Both mother and child feel good, according to reports.

President of Tajikistan Emomali Rahmon congratulated the parents on the birth of their child and ordered chief of Dushanbe to provide a new apartment to the family on this occasion.

"I did not know that the population of the country is nearing 9 million. Today is a joyful day for me," the woman said.

Mayor of Dushanbe Rustam Emomali signed the decree, which proposes allocation of a 3-room apartment to the family.
