AKIPRESS.COM - Foreign Minister of Turkmenistan Rashid Meredov had a meeting with new WHO Representative and Head of Country Office in Turkmenistan Dr Paulina Karwowska.

Meredov briefed Karwowska on main activities of Turkmenistan in the field of health care, the foreign ministry said.

The Turkmen side positively assessed the cooperation between Turkmenistan and WHO on various diseases.

Turkmenistan has made significant progress in regulation of tobacco consumption and is making efforts to create a smoke-free environment, Karwowska said.

The parties discussed preparations for the second WHO global conference on non-communicable diseases set for the end of 2018.
