Mongolia, UNCTAD discuss ties

AKIPRESS.COM - Ambassador of Mongolia to the Swiss Confederation and Permanent Representative of Mongolia to the United Nations Office and other International Organizations in Geneva L.Purevsuren met with Secretary-General of United Nations Conference on Trade and Development (UNCTAD) Mukhisa Kituyi.

They exchanged views on cooperation and the World Investment Forum that will be held in Geneva on October 22-26, 2018, Montsame reported.

During the meeting, two sides exchanged views on UNCTAD’s assistance to Mongolia as a landlocked developing country dependent on raw materials and their further cooperation. In particular, they talked about supporting the operation of International Think Tank for Landlocked Developing Countries, conducting analysis for the renewal of investment agreements, making recommendations and cooperating in connecting specific sectors into regional and global value chains.

Furthermore, they discussed about Mongolia’s participation in the World Investment Forum. Over 5000 representatives are expected to participate in some 50 events during this biennial forum.
