AKIPRESS.COM - The ‘UBIKE’ bicycle rental service has been launched in the Mongolian capital Ulaanbaatar. It has been proved by the experience of foreign countries that bike rental services are a concrete way of reducing traffic jams and air pollution, whilst improving the health of the public, news.mn reports.

The governor’s office of the capital city is working on expanding bike lanes in Ulaanbaatar and launching a ‘bike rental service’ in compliance with international standards to create the ‘bike lanes’ sub-programme, reflected in the 2016-2020 action plan of the and capital city governor and UB mayor.

A total of 2000 bikes and 150 bike parking spaces for the rental service will open in 2018-2020. The consortium led by Nickel Ganbaa LLC offers a cheap international standard bicycle rental service with smart payment and checking systems.

The bike rental price will be MNT 1000 per hour and MNT 1500 per two hours. The service covers the roads between East and West Crossings, Zaisan and Ikh Toiruu - this includes the central part of Ulaanbaatar. If the renter breaches the allowed radius, he or she will have to pay an additional MNT 500 per hour.
