India to render financial support to Mongolia's flood-hit region

AKIPRESS.COM - The State Emergency Commission led by Deputy Prime Minister of Mongolia U.Enkhtuvshin visited the Arkhangai aimag.

Ambassador of India to Mongolia Suresh Babu accompanied the delegation and met with the Governor of the aimag Ts.Munkhnasan.

During the meeting, the Ambassador said that the Government of India will give the region financial support worth MNT 20 million for flood relief efforts.

In addition, he informed that 10 English language teachers from the aimag will be involved in re-training course free of charge.

Last month's flash flood caused by heavy rain and hailstorm damaged 16 homes and winter camps of two families, killing 147 livestock in Khashaat soum. Moreover, the flood hit 82 families in Undur-Ulaan soum, destroying 200 fences and roofs of 11 buildings of entities and organizations. Therefore, a total of 42 gers were distributed from the state reserve to flood-affected two soums in accordance with the decision of the State Emergency Commission. Specifically, 26 gers were distributed to Undur-Ulaan soum and 16 gers to Khashaat soum.
