Mongolia, Indonesia discuss parliamentary ties

AKIPRESS.COM - Deputy Speaker of Mongolian Parliament L.Enkh-Amgalan met with Deputy Speaker of Indonesia’s House of Representatives (DPR) Fadli Zon during their participation in the 2nd World Parliamentary Forum on Sustainable Development on September 12-13.

At the beginning of the meeting, Deputy Speaker L.Enkh-Amgalan emphasized the effectiveness of mutual high-level visits and the first meeting of the Joint Commission for bilateral cooperation between Mongolia and Indonesia. He also expressed readiness to organize the second meeting of the joint commission in Mongolia next year.

The sides agreed that the parliaments have great role in further deepening economic and trade cooperation and increasing trade turnover.

Mr. Fadli Zon noted Indonesian people are proud of the historic Mongol conquests and remarked the importance of mutual effort in enhancing bilateral ties.

In conclusion of the meeting, Mr. Fadli Zon gratefully accepted Deputy Speaker’s invitation to participate in a Conference on Sustainable Development of Asia-Pacific countries to be held in Ulaanbaatar in the first half of 2019.

Moreover, MP A.Undraa made a speech at the plenary ‘Quality education and technology towards green industry’. She emphasized the importance of countries’ focus on improvement of education at all stages as highly educated personnel are vital for the development of green industry and introduced Mongolia’s policy and activities in this respect. The MP also mentioned that Mongolia is preparing to submit its Voluntary National Review on the implementation of the SDGs to the UN General Assembly in 2019.
