US Embassy in Bishkek encourages Kyrgyzstanis to avoid Diversity Visa fraud

AKIPRESS.COM - Many internet websites in the Kyrgyz Republic are currently advertising services for assistance with submission of Diversity Visa program entries, and various visa facilitators, visa agents, or visa coordinators have been claiming to offer legitimate assistance with the Diversity Visa process.

Although these services and businesses may be available, none of them represent the “green card” lottery or the Embassy of the United States of America. The online entry application is, in fact, simple and free of charge, the US Embassy in Bishkek says.

Some unscrupulous visa facilitators have assisted entrants with their entries, retained the confirmation page, and then demanded more money in exchange for essential information on the confirmation page. Some facilitators have even required illegal action on the part of the selectee in order for the selectee to obtain the notification package. If entrants do use assistance to complete the entry, they should take steps to ensure they receive and retain the unique confirmation number contained in the confirmation page at the end of the entry process.

The use of outside entities to assist in the Diversity Visa process is not only unnecessary, but also may result in the disqualification of the Diversity Visa entry or denial of the visa application should the facilitator fail to correctly enter all of the required information in the Diversity Visa entry. Entrants are responsible for ensuring that the information in the entry is correct and complete.

We strongly encourage entrants to complete the Diversity Visa program entry without such unnecessary cost or assistance. Applicants can review the rules and procedures for submitting a Diversity Visa entry on the Department’s public website: https://travel.state.gov/content/travel/en/us-visas/immigrate/diversity-visa-program-entry.html.

All Diversity Visa entries must be made online through the Department’s Electronic Diversity Visa (E-Diversity Visa) website, regardless of whether a facilitator assists an individual with the process. There is no cost to submit an entry through the website.

The congressionally-mandated Diversity Immigrant Visa Program makes available up to 55,000 diversity visas each year, drawn from random selection among all entries, to persons who meet strict eligibility requirements from countries with low rates of immigration to the United States.

If you are interested in participating in the “green card” lottery, please follow our website and social media for announcements about the opening of the registration period for Diversity Visa-2020 in the coming months.

The law allows only one entry per person during the registration period. Entrants who submit more than one entry will be disqualified. Please be aware of the requirement to submit a recent photograph that has been taken within six months. Entries with duplicate photo submissions from the previous Diversity Visa year will be disqualified.
