Mongolian Foreign Minister paying visit to France

AKIPRESS.COM - Foreign Minister D.Tsogtbaatar is paying an official visit to France from October 8 to 9 at the invitation of Minister of Europe and Foreign Affairs of France Jean-Yves Le Drian. During the visit, he held meetings with Mr. Jean-Yves Le Drian, a Deputy Director-General of UNESCO, and First Vice-President of the Île-de-France Regional Council, Jérôme Chartier, Montsame reports.

At the meeting with Mr. Jean-Yves Le Drian, the sides exchanged views on expanding Mongolia-France relations and cooperation in political, defense, economic and humanitarian sectors and agreed to upgrade bilateral ties to comprehensive partnership by building a road map.

Minister of Europe and Foreign Affairs of France Jean-Yves Le Drian expressed interest to actively cooperate in the fields of agriculture and space studies while noting successful cooperation in the spheres of renewable energy, mining and municipal public transport.

Foreign Minister D.Tsogtbaatar brought up the issues of continuing cooperation in livestock health sector as well as carrying out joint projects to produce livestock products and exporting them to third markets, which was agreed by the France side. Furthermore, proposals to launch new projects in cultural sector, especially in the fields of history and archaeology, and to increase the number of Mongolian students to study in France were made during the meeting.

The meeting with a Deputy Director-General of UNESCO discussed progress and outcome of joint projects, sectors to cooperate in further, and the issue of increasing Mongolian employees at UNESCO. Moreover, Minister D.Tsogtbaatar asked support in organizing the Interreligious Dialogue for Peace in Mongolia next year. The Deputy Director-General of UNESCO expressed readiness to intensify cooperation further, voicing satisfaction with Mongolia’s continual support in UNESCO’s activities.

The Foreign Minister also met with authorities of major companies of France including Thales, Đ•urotradia, CIS and Atermes, having talks on increasing investment of France in Mongolia, adjusting trade balance and promoting exports while briefing on current socio-economic situation of Mongolia.
