Mongolia, Philippines vow to enhance cooperation

AKIPRESS.COM - Mongolia and the Philippines have pledged to enhance bilateral cooperation in various sectors, especially in economy, trade, culture and education, the Mongolian Foreign Affairs Ministry said Friday, Xinhua reports.

The pledge was made by Batmunkh Battsetseg, Mongolia's deputy minister of foreign affairs, and Enrique Manalo, Undersecretary of the Philippine Department of Foreign Affairs, during the third consultative meeting of ministries of foreign affairs between the two countries in Manila on Thursday.

During the meeting, the two sides signed a memorandum of understanding on strengthening cooperation mechanisms between their ministries of foreign affairs.

The Philippine side expressed its interest to export fruits and marine products to the landlocked country, and import mining and agricultural products from Mongolia.

In addition, the Philippines proposed to work closely with Mongolia in information technology and innovation, according to the Mongolian Foreign Affairs Ministry.

This year marks the 45th anniversary of diplomatic ties between the two countries.
