AKIPRESS.COM - The 130th anniversary of epic Manas reciter, ethnographer, teacher Ybyraiym Abdrakhmanov was celebrated in At-Bashi district of Naryn region, Turmush reports.

The event took place in Kazybek village. Scientists and researchers from Bishkek city participated in it. The biography and work of Abdrakhmanov were presented during the event.

A concert was held at the end of event.

Abdrakhmanov has worked for many years as a researcher at the Institute of Language and Literature of the Kyrgyz Academy of Sciences. He conducted research on Manas reciters. He recorded the full text of the Manas epic from the words of famous Manas reciter Sagymbai Orozbakov. However, his manuscripts are not published and are stored in the archive. He devoted his life to collecting and recording various genres of oral folk art.
