World's last wilderness may soon vanish with more than 77% of land

AKIPRESS.COM - The world's last wilderness may vanish sooner rather than later, new research has warned, Daily Mail reports.

Scientists say the last wild areas left on the planet are rapidly disappearing, with explicit international conservation targets 'critically needed' to protect them.

A team of experts recently mapped intact ocean ecosystems, complementing a 2016 project charting remaining terrestrial wilderness.

It found that 77 per cent of land and 87 per cent of the ocean has already been damaged by human activities.
