AKIPRESS.COM - North Korea and Mongolia agreed to boost their bilateral ties, Korean Central News Agency reported on Sunday.

North Korea's foreign minister Ri Yong-ho and his Mongolian counterpart, Damdin Tsogtbaatar, exchanged views on cooperation in fields, such as trade and politics, during their talks in Ulaanbaatar.

Minister Tsogtbaatar thanked his counterpart for the visit in response to his visit to North Korea in February 2018.

Ri Yong-ho said that his visit to Mongolia was aimed to discuss and plan broadening of relations between Mongolia and North Korea and implementation of events dedicated to the 70th anniversary of diplomatic ties.

Mongolia and North Korea established diplomatic relations in 1948.

Minister D.Tsogtbaatar emphasized the importance of denuclearization of the Korean peninsula and solving controversial issues in the region in peaceful ways through dialogue. He also highly appreciated definite progresses made in ensuring regional peace and sustainability thanks to the sides’ efforts and expressed his confidence that the DPRK would make efforts in the future to deepen and strengthen it and bring tangible results in long term, Montsame news agency reported.

Minister Ri Yong-ho added that North Korea aspires for denuclearization of the Korean peninsula just like Mongolia. “Now, it is vital to strengthen trust in the region.”
