AKIPRESS.COM - Five people have died in a mid-air collision between a small tourist plane and a helicopter carrying skiers to an Italian Alps glacier, officials said, Sky News reports.
Alpine rescue corps spokesman Walter Milan said the accident happened at an altitude of 3,000 metres (9,800ft) on Friday afternoon.
The collision took place over the Rutor glacier in the northwestern region of Val d'Aosta.
Rescuers found two survivors.
One person was taken to hospital with serious injuries, while the status of the other survivor has not been reported.
The cause of the crash remained unclear as rescue crews worked to remove the bodies.
The identities and nationalities of the victims have not been released.
