AKIPRESS.COM - Tajik President Emomali Rahmon met his Uzbek counterpart Shavkat Mirziyoyev in Beijing on the sidelines of the second Belt and Road forum, Tajik president’s office said.

The two presidents discussed bilateral cooperation between Tajikistan and Uzbekistan, implementing investment projects, constructing social facilities in territories of both countries and expansion of cultural and humanitarian cooperation.

Bilateral trade between Tajikistan and Uzbekistan amounted to $62 million in the first quarter of 2019.

Both sides agreed to continue work on diversification of goods and intensification of trade that will allow increasing the bilateral trade by $500 million in the coming years, the Tajik president’s website said.
