ADB to allocate $80 billion to protect Asian countries from climate changing

AKIPRESS.COM - The Asian Development Bank plans to spend $80 billion through 2030 to build infrastructure that will help protect Asian countries from the impact of climate change, Nikkei reports.

The annual gathering brings together finance ministers, central bankers and other officials from the lender's 68 member countries and regions to discuss Asian development and financial cooperation.

Global warming will lead to a crisis in food production, Tuvalu Finance Minister Maatia Toafa told Nikkei. Tuvalu, a Pacific island nation like Fiji, risks being submerged by the Pacific Ocean as climate change causes sea levels to rise.

"More climate change brings less soil for food production, which we've already seen in my country," he said.
