AKIPRESS.COM - President of Turkmenistan Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov congratulated Emperor of Japan Naruhito on his ascension to the throne.

In his congratulatory address, the President of Turkmenistan underlined the high level of relations between Turkmenistan and Japan in the political, trade, economic, social, cultural, humanitarian and other fields.

Berdimuhamedov confirmed his country's readiness to further develop the mutually beneficial cooperation in the interest of the peoples of the two countries.

Naruhito acceded to the Chrysanthemum Throne on 1 May 2019, beginning the Reiwa era, following the abdication of his father, Emperor Akihito, on 30 April 2019. He is the 126th emperor according to Japan’s traditional order of succession.
