Tajikistan receives $98 mln from international financial institutions in Q1

AKIPRESS.COM - Tajikistan has acquired 19 percent of the funding for the Commonwealth of Independent States approved by two international financial institutions in the first quarter of this year, the Eurasian Development Bank (EDB) has said.

The World Bank and the Eurasian Fund for Stabilization and Development (EFSD) agreed with the Central Asian country on projects in the amount of 98 million U.S. dollars, the EDB reported in a review of international development banks' investment activities.

The World Bank has approved 58 million dollars for the implementation of a rural water supply and sanitation project, which aims to improve access to basic water services in the southwestern region of Khatlon.

The EFSD has approved a loan in the amount of 40 million dollars to finance the first phase of the Nurek Hydro Power Plant's rehabilitation, in a bid to support the purchase and supply six single-phase auto-transformers to replace the obsolete auto-transformers at the plant's switchyard.
