Kyrgyz MP meets with Barack Obama in Canada

AKIPRESS.COM - Kyrgyz MP Aida Kasymaliyeva met with former US President Barack Obama at the Open Government Partnership Global Summit 2019 in Canada, Kasymalieva wrote on her Facebook page.

Representatives from Ukraine, Canada, Kenya, Argentina, Estonia, Afghanistan who are implementing projects on openness of state administration in their countries discussed the challenges they have to face.

“Barack Obama is charismatic, calm, attentive, thoughtful, who remembers the names of people he meets instantly. He sees personality in the person, appeals to the dignity of the person and arouses the best qualities. Of course he is a historical figure. There was an informal meeting with the ex-president, where each of the participants shared the challenges and successes of their countries in terms of openness of their governments and parliaments. The issues of global and local trends were also discussed. Obama shared his thoughts based on his experience,” Kasymaliyeva said.

Kasymaliyeva added that a film about female leaders around the world and the stereotypes that need to be broken was presented at the summit. “I am one of the characters of the film. It was great honor for me to represent Kyrgyzstan at the summit and to talk about our steps to open parliament,” said Kasymalieva.
