Tajikistan test launches second unit of Roghun hydropower plant

AKIPRESS.COM - The second unit of the Roghun hydroelectric power plant (HPP) has been launched in a test mode. It is still running at idle without generating electricity, a source in the Tajik government told Asia-Plus in an interview, Asia Plus reported. 

An exact data of an official launched of the second unit of the Roghun HPP is still unknown, the source added.

The launch of the second unit of the Roghun hydroelectric power plant (HPP) that was scheduled to take place in April this year has been postponed to a later date.

Recall, the Roghun HPP’s first of six units was officially switched on November 16, 2016.

Tajik President Emomali Rahmon attended the ceremony along with other Tajik officials and foreign guests, including Deputy Chief Executive Officer of Afghanistan, Khyal Mohammad Khan, Minister of Water Resources of Uzbekistan, Shavkat Hamrayev, Deputy Minister of Energy of Russia, Andrey Cherezov, Italian Deputy Foreign Minister, Manlio Di Stefano, and Vice-President of the World Bank, Cyril Muller.
