U-16 Besiktas reportedly hired prostitutes during tournament in Greece

AKIPRESS.COM - Under-16 Besiktas football team reportedly hired prostitutes during their trip to the Greek Island of Rhodes as they took part in the "Cup of Rhodes Knights 2019" tournament earlier this year, reports were denied by the team.

Reports, which originate from German newspaper Bild, claim that several members of the Besiktas youth squad have been suspended after the alleged incident. The ages of the players have not been revealed, although reports suggest that the players involved were all born in 2003. It is claimed that all of the players involved in the alleged incident have been suspended by Besiktas, The Sun reports.

Besiktas have denied the claims, telling Turkish news agency Duhuliye: "We also heard about this ‘sex scandal’ today. However, the case is not as it is written in the media. Our under-16 team were in Rhodes 40 days ago. One of the players invited his girlfriend to the hotel but the coaches realised and reacted immediately. This player has been left out of the squad. The case is not as big as it is has been exaggerated.”

Besiktas' Under-16's won The Cup of Rhodes Knights Tournament by beating Greek side Panathinaikos 2-1 in the final.
