Japanese FM, Mongolian PM vow to boost cooperation

AKIPRESS.COM - Minister of Foreign Affairs of Japan Taro Kono, who is visiting Mongolia, paid a courtesy call on Prime Minister of Mongolia on June 16, Montsame reported.

PM Ukhnaagiin Khurelsukh briefed on policies of the Government of Mongolia on economy and cooperation. Moreover, the PM said the Government of Mongolia would pay attention on increasing benefits of Economic Partnership Agreement, promoting free trade cooperation agreement as well as participating in understanding between the United Nations and Japan from an active position.

Taro Kono noted that the two countries have been actively collaborating in the fields of foreign policy, security, defense, education and health. "Therefore, I believe that selecting Mongolia as one of workforce importers would become an impetus to broaden the scope of bilateral ties and cooperation," added Mr. Taro Kono.

Following the meeting, PM Khurelsukh and Foreign Minister of Japan Taro Kono attended the inauguration ceremony of Mongolia-Japan Teaching Hospital at the Mongolian National University of Medical Sciences, built with non-refundable aid of the Government of Japan.
