AKIPRESS.COM - The issue of construction of a nuclear power plant in Kazakhstan will be resolved on referendum, Minister of Energy Kanat Bozumbayev said today at a conference, Zakon.kz reports.
"But there is no decision of the government on the necessity of a nuclear power plant now," he noted.
Bozumbayev added that any comments on its construction by foreign companies are "nothing more than a desire to sell their products in the form of construction of nuclear power stations to Kazakhstan or it's a kind of a political defamation".
Investigations of a possibility of construction of nuclear stations has earlier been carried out and they will be made in future as well, according to him.
"But today there are no any plans at a governmental level to build a nuclear power plant," the Minister said.
