Hunters find 21 wolf cubs in Kadamjai, they will be legally killed in 6 months

AKIPRESS.COM - In last 10 days, 5 jackals and 6 wolves were killed and 21 wolf cubs were captured in Kadamjai district of Osh, Alay Bedelov, head of the hunters association of the Kadamjai said.

According to the laws, these 21 wolf cubs will be kept alive for 6 months and then will be shot, Bedelov said.

According to the hunter, wolves start reproducing in the summer and spring time. Therefore, hunters often bump into wolf cubs during the prophylactic shooting, which is needed to  prevent predators attacking the domestic animals of the local residents. In the last 3 months, according to Bedelov, predators killed over 40 sheep, 20 foals, and 30 yaks.

According to the government resolution on the number of wolves and jackals in Kyrgyzstan dated 26 February 2016, the government introduced bonus payments for shooting the predators that pose threat to human health and bring material damages to people by attacking their domestic animals: 6000 soms per 1 wolf, 1,500 soms per one wolf cub, and 2000 soms per jackal.
