Mongolia marks Flag Day with military parade

AKIPRESS.COM - On the occasion of the State Flag Day of Mongolia, a military parade was held at Sukhbaatar square on July 10, Montsame reports.

A total of 90 formations of the Mongolian Armed Forces, National Police Agency, National Emergency Management Agency, Law Enforcement University, National Defense University and State Honor Guard led by the Chief of Ulaanbaatar military post, Major General R.Sukhbat marched in the parade.

President of Mongolia and Commander-in-Chief of the Mongolian Armed Forces Kh.Battulga, Prime Minister U.Khurelsukh and Speaker of the State Great Khural G.Zandanshatar attended the parade and delivered speeches at the ceremony.

In 2008, three Members of Parliament S.Byambatsogt, J.Sukhbaatar and Ts.Dashdorj passed a law on the establishment of State Flag Day. The State Flag Day is being celebrated for 10th year. The day was celebrated traditionally with flag raising ceremony and a military parade.

 

The current flag of Mongolia was adopted in 1992. Prior to 1992, the flag had a communist star above the Soyombo symbol.
