$24.3 billion invested in Kazakhstan’s economy in 2018

AKIPRESS.COM - The total investment in the economy of Kazakhstan in 2018 amounted to $24.3 billion, Kazakh President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev told the 32nd plenary meeting of the foreign investors’ council (FIC), New Europe reports.

“The growth forecast of the global economy is deteriorating. According to the OECD (Organization for Economic Cooperation and Development), the total amount of foreign investment in the world decreased by 27% to 1.1 trillion dollars. Kazakhstan in this difficult situation was able to maintain a steady flow of investment. Last year, the total investment amounted to 24.3 billion dollars. The growth was 16% compared with 2017,” Tokayev said.

According to President, there are a number of difficulties that confront Kazakhstan, including the transformation of the global labour market, which impacts the existing system of education, training, social protection.

“We are very interested to hear the opinions of experts and practitioners on how we should approach the issues of education, training in the context of the fourth industrial revolution,” Tokayev said.
