National sports stadium to be established in Ulaanbaatar

AKIPRESS.COM - The Cabinet of Ministers of Mongolia on August 7 discussed a plan to build an ethnic, eco-friendly, indoor sports stadium with a seating capacity of 50 to 60 thousand in Ulaanbaatar, Montsame reported.

A contest to design the year-round stadium, capable of hosting a variety of international sports competitions and art and cultural events in addition to the Naadam festival, has been announced.

The new stadium is planned to be constructed either in the southeast of the Nisekh-Yarmag traffic circle in Khan-Uul district or around the Mongol Naadam complex in Khui Doloon Khudag, Songinokhairkhan district and commissioned by the 2021 Naadam festival, on the occasion of the 100th anniversary of the People’s Revolution.

Head of the Cabinet Secretariat L.Oyun-Erdene is leading the working group in charge of both the project development and its budget.
