Over 1,500 birds die suspiciously in Mongolia

AKIPRESS.COM - A total of 1,521 birds of 16 species have died in suspicious circumstances in western Mongolia since late August, Xinhua reported with reference to the country's National Emergency Management Agency (NEMA).

"A total of 1,521 birds of 16 species such as brown geese, gulls and shelducks have died in suspicious circumstances around Baga lake in Durvuljin soum of Zavkhan Province," the NEMA said in a statement.

A working group consisting of 22 officials from relevant organizations, such as the NEMA and the National Center for Zoonotic Diseases, are working at the site to determine causes of the deaths, according to the emergency agency.
