Life in misery: Naryn woman with 8 children asks help from state

AKIPRESS.COM - 39-year-old Jibek Kalybekova and her 50-year-old husband Jumabek Turdumambetov raise 8 children living in a garage in emergency condition in Chaek village of Naryn region.

The mother-heroine claims the state does not pay allowances for her children.

Her elder son finished only 9 grades and moved to the capital, Bishkek for earnings, but is barely surviving here. 4 other children are of school age, the youngest one is just 1 year old.

"We've been not receiving state allowances for many children for 2 years, because they said my husband earns 15,000 soms ($200) and that it is enough for us to survive. But his real pay is 7-8 thousand soms ($100). And now he has no job at all," she said.

The husband had to quit job because of the unpaid salary, she said. "He worked at the road building company, but they did not pay him. We don't have money to buy food. It's cold inside, because we don't have money to buy coal. We have to collect wood to heat the house. We can't afford children's going to school. Teacher asks my child about pay for school meals, my son feels uncomfortable for that. We live in this garage to guard it," she said.

Children don't even have warm clothes and shoes, but winter is here.

"The only thing I can do is to cry for help," she said.

Jibek Kalybekova asks anyone for help. Her phone number: +996 502  08-03-81.
