AKIPRESS.COM - The goal of the 1st Feminnale of Contemporary Art international exhibition is raising the issues concerning the rights and freedom of women, one of the organizers of the exhibition Altyn Kapalova said on December 3.

According to her, the exhibition mainly depicts domestic violence, mental health of women.

After exhibition started, organizers faced pressure and bullying on the Internet, Kapalova noted.

She explained why a nude performance of a woman was included in the exhibition. “Many ask what is the link between the freedom of women and the naked body in the museum. There is a direct link. Abuse begins from the control over the women’s body. Therefore, we continue the work of the exhibition,” she said.

According to her, 6 objects were removed due to the censorship. “When there is such a sensitive issue, we are just shut up our mouses,” she noted.
