Mongolian PM meets Putin in Sochi

AKIPRESS.COM - Prime Minister of Mongolia Uknaagiin Khurelsukh on December 5 paid a courtesy call on President of Russia Vladimir Putin in Sochi, Russia, Montsame reports.

At their second meeting in the last three months, the sides agreed to start a project to have the natural gas pipeline between Russia and China run through the territory of Mongolia.

“The gas pipeline project to be implemented under the economic corridor program will make significant contributions to the social and economic development of Mongolia, Russia, and China,” the Prime Minister underlined. Russian President Vladimir Putin said there is no political obstacle to the implementation of the project.

The sides thus finalized the matter of having the pipeline pass through Mongolia that has been under discussion for many years, with the signing of a Memorandum.

Research working groups of the two counties will now commence their economic impact analysis and feasibility studies on the project that will open up an opportunity for Mongolia to take part in the regional energy integration.
