AKIPRESS.COM - Under the ‘International promotion of the memorable cultural heritage – Rock art’ project initiated by the Mongolian National Commission for UNESCO (United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization), Mongolian Permanent Delegation to UNESCO and Semoon studio jointly mounted ‘A Million Days of Mongolia’ rock art photo exhibition at the UNESCO Headquarters in Paris, France on Decemebr 12, Montsame said.

The exhibition showcased more than 5,000 photographs of rock paintings and carvings left on cave walls in Bayan-Ulgii, Khovd, Gobi-Altai, Umnugobi, Sukhbaatar, Khentii, Arkhangai and other Mongolian aimags taken by director/producer of Semoon studio B.Bayar.

Moreover, as part of the exhibition, rock art-inspired artworks by children from over 60 below-poverty-line families living and working on the Ulaan Chuluut garbage dump were displayed in collaboration with the Relations Development NGO. The artworks included ‘Del Mountain Cave’ felt picture inspired by the ‘Inverted Triangle’ ethno dance performance which was staged on the same day by the Performing Arts School of the Mongolian State University of Culture and Arts and over 200 unique handmade greeting cards.

At the opening ceremony of the exhibition, Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs B.Battsetseg, UNESCO Assistant Director General for Administration and Management Nicholas Jeffreys, and Head of the Culture and Arts Authority G.Erdenebat delivered remarks and B.Bayar gave information on his photos. Teachers of the Mongolian State University of Culture and Arts presented throat singing, horse-head fiddle, and dance performances to the exhibition visitors.
