AKIPRESS.COM - U.S. Marines delivered toys and other donations from the U.S. Embassy Community in Bishkek to children of the SOS Children’s Village, a nongovernmental charitable organization providing services for children in Kyrgyzstan without parental care, the Embassy said.

The donations were made on December 14, 2019 through the Marine "Toys for Tots" Program which occurs every year around the world.

The children showed their gratitude by teaching the U.S. Marines about Kyrgyz culture, reciting portions of the Kyrgyz Epic of Manas, and demonstrating the game of Ordo. Finally, the U.S. Marines danced the Kyrgyz National Dance Kara Jorgo with the children.

“As the holidays arrive, we’re reminded how important it is to be a contributing member of our community,” said one U.S. Marine. “We’re so happy to have the opportunity to spread the joy of the Toys for Tots program in Bishkek.”

The U.S. Embassy would like to thank both American and Kyrgyz citizens who contributed to this year's program.
