AKIPRESS.COM - A number of wild animals is increasing in the Sary-Chelek Nature Reserve, the press service of the State Agency for Environmental Protection and Forestry of Kyrgyzstan told AKIpress.

Sary-Chelek is a model of natural ecosystems and aims to preserve unique wildlife, the press service said.

It is located on the territory of the Aksy district of Jalal-Abad region. The reserve is known by unique picturesque and pristine nature and the lake itself.

Winter here lasts for up to 5 months.

The reserve occupies the territory of 23,868 ha. There are more than 40 mammalian species, 175 birds and 5 fish. Most of them are considered endangered in Kyrgyzstan.

To date, the height of snow reaches to 1.25 cm there.

This year, a growth of wild animals is observed in the reserve. For example, a number of wild boars increased twice this year.
