More than 300 Kazakhstanis refuse to be evacuated from China

AKIPRESS.COM - The government of Kazakhstan considered measures to prevent the spread of coronavirus infection, the press service of the Prime Minister said.

Minister of Healthcare Yelzhan Birtanov and Minister of Foreign Affairs Mukhtar Tleuberdi reported on the current situation and ongoing work.

No cases of coronavirus infection have been reported in Kazakhstan, they said.

Some 134 people with fever and symptoms of acute respiratory infection were hospitalized, 106 of them were discharged with recovery, 28 remain in hospitals. The patients are in satisfactory condition.

Medical organizations continue to monitor the health of citizens arriving from China at their place of residence, 24,167 people are covered, including 1,298 foreign citizens. Today, 8,851 people who arrived from China over the past 14 days remain under medical supervision, the monitoring of the remaining 15,316 has finished due to the end of the incubation period.

Currently, 497 citizens of Kazakhstan are on the territory of China, including 337 students. 217 citizens of Kazakhstan were delivered from Beijing to Nur-Sultan by charter plane of Air Astana Airlines on Feb. 10 to Feb. 11, 2020. 155 more citizens will be brought from China on Feb. 12. Upon completion of the evacuation, 343 citizens of Kazakhstan who expressed desire to stay will remain in China.
