Life in rural Kyrgyzstan: Two electricians ski 7 km to reach villages in need of help

AKIPRESS.COM - Only two families live on Basharyn pasture of Tyup district in Issyk-Kul region, Turmush reports.

The pasture is located 60 km from district center.

Two electricians from these families Yrysbek and Mirbek work in Basharyn electrical substation.

Yrysbek said that he has been working in this sphere for 30 years. He and his colleague have to overcome up to 7 km despite a 1-meter thick snow to give electricity to Santash and Karkara villages.

The men have all necessary equipment to overcome this distance.

“Climatic conditions are very severe here. Sometimes we have to call our colleagues from power stations from Ken-Suu village. But mostly, we deal with problems at work ourselves, despite the -40°C frost,” Yrysbek noted.

The Basharyn substation serves 134 subscribers, who consume 2,000 kWh of electricity per day.

“We always work together, because it is very dangerous. There can be wolves on the way. Various situations may happen. But this is our work and we do it,” he concluded.
