Citizens wanting to avoid coronavirus quarantine reportedly must pay $150 fee in Turkmenistan

AKIPRESS.COM - A fee for avoiding quarantine has been introduced at the airport of Turkmenabat where all international flights are directed to combat coronavirus outbreak in Turkmenistan, Chronicles of Turkmenistan reports.

A fee of $100-$150 or 2,000-3,000 manats must be paid to a police officer or a healthcare practitioner to be able to go home instead of being quarantined.

The screening of passengers from inbound flights is quite lengthy taking 4 to 6 hours, which includes measuring the temperature. Randomly, at the discretion of medical staff, even a passenger with normal temperature might be denied exit from the airport. They will be informed that they need to be isolated since a passenger with high temperature was identified on his flight.

Passengers are taken to a separate room where a police officer comes in walking among potential carriers of the coronavirus. After patrolling the rows of passengers, he moves aside waiting that some passenger will approach him and start negotiating.
