Covid-19 hits vital Mongolian exports

AKIPRESS.COM - Mongolia’s trade volume has decreased by 21.3 percent to USD 1.5 billion in first two months of 2020, news.mn reported.

Exports fell by 29.5 percent and imports by 10.4 percent as the country closed its borders with China – its key trading partner – in order to preventing the spread of coronavirus.

Mongolia exported only USD 229 million of coal in first two months of 2020; a decrease from USD 334 million for the same period in 2019. Furthermore, exports of copper concentrate fell to USD 219 million –nearly 30 percent.
