Mongolia freezes all flights as it evacuated its citizens abroad

AKIPRESS.COM - Mongolia has suspended all flights and closed borders with Russia and China until March 28 for preventing spread of coronavirus that has killed over 5800 people globally, news.mn reports.

However, MIAT, the national airline carrier is conducting charter flights in order to evacuate the almost 190,000 Mongolians stuck in foreign countries. Currently, Mongolia has evacuated over 500 people with chapter flight from Seoul and Berlin through Moscow. However, Mongolia will not receive any foreign citizens.

The 57-year-old French national who brought the infection into coronavirus-free Mongolia on 2 March, is now under treatment in the National Centre for Communicative Disease.
