Mongolia might extend period of schools quarantine again

AKIPRESS.COM - The National Emergency Commission of Mongolia will decide whether the period of school quarantine should or should not be extended, news.mn reports.

This decision will be taken on March 20. Before the announcement, the Ministry of Education, Culture, Science and Sports will consider proposals from school nationwide.

Previously, the Mongolian Government extended the period of quarantine until April 1 in order to prevent the spread of the highly infectious coronavirus. All schools, universities and kindergartens in the country have been on quarantine since January 27.

According to Yo.Baatarbileg, Minister of Education, Culture, Science and Sports, the 2019-2020 academic year will not extend school days; the summer break for kindergartens and l-V grades will begin from June 1, whilst for VI-XII grades it will be from June 8. However, pupils will not get their third school break and must also study on Saturdays.

All Mongolian universities and institutes are instructed not to extend study days and will be obliged to organize online classes. Furthermore, the school lessons broadcast on television will be recorded on CDs.
