AKIPRESS.COM - The Ministry of Finance of Kyrgyzstan on March 12 opened the account for transfer of donations to support the efforts to prevent COVID-19 from spread.

Personal protective equipment, disinfectants, syringes, antiseptics, food products will be purchased for these donations.

Inspectors of the State Technical and Environmental Safety Inspectorate received N95 respirators that block at least 95% of particles in air, protective coveralls, goggles, nitrile gloves that were handed over as part of the project of the OSCE Programme Office on promotion of environmental safety and reduction of the risk of natural disasters.

The director of the State Environmental and Technical Inspectorate, Myrzabek Jyparkulov, transferred his monthly salary to the Ministry of Health, and the employees of the Inspectorate transferred their one-day pay.

The Islamic Development Bank allocated grant funds of $350,000 through the "Fael Khair Program" to the Ministry of Health of Kyrgyzstan. These funds were used to purchase 30,400 polymerase chain reaction (PCR) test kits with reagents to detect coronavirus.

The PCR test kits arrived in Kyrgyzstan on April 8. The PCR tests were developed in accordance with the requirements of the Ministry of Health of Turkey and were certified by the World Health Organization.

The Soros-Kyrgyzstan Foundation has donated 1,000 protective suits to the city's mobile medical teams of the City Health Department. Personal protective equipment has been manufactured in Turkey.

To date, 500 protective suits have been given to doctors of the national clinical infectious diseases hospital.

From March 30 to April, Kyrgyzstan's Red Crescent assisted the Ministry of Emergency Situations, the Ministry of Health, the Ministry of Labour and Social Development, the Ministry of Internal Affairs, the State Fire Service and other government agencies in responding to COVID19 in each region. ADAM University provides targeted assistance to the medical staff of Tokmok Territorial Hospital. The medical workers were given sets of reusable protective suits, respirators with filters and glasses. Medical workers also received elbow dispensers with antiseptics worth 80,000 soms.

The staff of the Professional Union of Railway Workers and Transport Builders of Kyrgyzstan transferred 50,000 soms to a special account of the Ministry of Finance to fight the coronavirus.

UNDP has started supplying the necessary personal protective gear to doctors and nurses on the frontline of the fight against COVID-19. Initial support included 50,000 masks and 2,000 respirators.

UNDP will also soon provide 10 ventilators and 6,500 tests. The total amount of support is US$500,000.

The Issyk-Kul Development Fund and Kumtor Gold Company provided financial assistance to prevent further spread of coronavirus (COVID-19) in the Issyk-Kul region. A total of 12 million soms will be allocated from the Issyk-Kul Development Fund for districts and towns in Issyk-Kul region. Kumtor Gold has allocated $100,000.

AYU Holding provided 135 families of the disabled society with KazGrain Company products and hand sanitizers. AYU Holding also has handed over food products and hand sanitizers to Djal children's hospital worth 71,000 soms.

ADAM University, in addition to the previously transferred financial aid of 100,000 soms to combat the pandemic, has decided to provide targeted assistance to medical workers of Tokmok Territorial Hospital. Reusable sets of protective suits, medical respirators with filters and medical goggles, as well as elbow dispensers with antiseptics worth 80,000 soms were donated.

The Coalition Against Torture in Kyrgyzstan helped the Bishkek City Internal Affairs temporary detention facility with antiviral disinfectants and masks. 2,000 gloves, 1,500 masks, and 200 disinfectants were purchased and transferred to the facility.

The aid included 30 protective coveralls, 10,000 shoe covers, gloves, 1,000 liters of antiseptics. This aid will be distributed among penitentiary institutions and a hospital for prison workers.

Public places and streets were disinfected in Talas region with support of entrepeneurs. Hot meals were provided for 30 officers at the roadblocks for 3 days. 20 sprayers were purchased. Vita Talas dialysis center handed over 7,000 masks to 4 regions in Talas and 5 protective clothing items to the regional hospital.
