Bars and nightclubs shut down again indefinitely in Mongolia

AKIPRESS.COM - After two months of being out of business, places that serve alcoholic drinks had been allowed on April 30 to reopen.

But on May 4 mayor of Ulaanbaatar S.Amarsaikhan decided to close the bars and nightclubs back indefinitely due to their violations of coronavirus safety standards as well as the current Covid-19 situation.

The drinking establishments are required to take sanitary and hygiene measures including the disinfection and sanitation of all areas to prevent Covid-19 infections in compliance with the rules and regulations set by the authorities and recommendations of professionals. "We clearly stated in our notice to the businesses that they should take and record the temperature of customers and offer a half of their tables and chairs, and that their customers should be able to keep a distance of 1.5 to 2 meters from each others," an official said.

Also, liquor licenses of 31 businesses that had repeatedly violated the orders of the Ulaanbaatar Emergency Commission and the governor of the capital city since January 27 have been revoked.

As of today, 5,756 wholesale and retail stores and 3,488 bars, restaurants, cafes, pubs, and karaoke bars hold liquor licenses in the capital city.
