AKIPRESS.COM - Garlic harvesting began in Issyk-Kul region, Turmush reports.
Garlic was grown on 265 hectares this year, according to Jeti-Oguz district's Yrdyk rural municipality governor Askat Dyikanbaev.
Farmers hope their work will be rewarded.
They sold 1 kg of garlic for 400 soms last year. Now they sell 1 kg of garlic for 100 soms. Most farmers do not sell anything and wait for prices to grow.
Local Nurbek Dokeev says that he grows garlic on 30 hectares.
At the beginning of the harvesting, 1 kg of garlic cost 70 soms, so he asks officials to help to sell garlic.
Today many farmers arrange storage of harvested garlic in special facilities.
