Inaugural Kyrgyz virtual IT Expo receives support from international partners

AKIPRESS.COM - From March 15-19, international diplomatic missions from the United States of America, United Kingdom, Japan, Germany, Republic of Korea and European Union will partner with the Kyrgyz Ministry of Foreign Affairs and High Technology Park to conduct the virtual international IT Expo, CONNECT.KG.

The U.S. Embassy said this will be the first virtual IT Expo to showcase the Kyrgyz Republic as a growing IT hub for international startups and digital businesses seeking to enter the Central Asian market. The virtual exhibition will feature the participation of over 40 local and international IT companies, representing sectors such as fintech, e-commerce, IT outsourcing and business process solutions, IT education, digital commerce, and other emerging IT sectors.

The virtual Expo opened on March 15, 6 p.m., with welcome remarks from Kyrgyz Prime Minister Ulukbek Maripov, Kyrgyz First Deputy Foreign Minister Nuran Niyazaliev, U.S. Ambassador Donald Lu, British Ambassador Charles Edmund Garrett, and Japanese Amabassador Shigeki Maeda . Throughout the week, Ambassadors from international missions will participate in the Expo, to discuss IT-related commercial and development opportunities. The Expo will invite local and international participants to attend B2B virtual exhibitions live-streamed from High Technology Park, AUCA, Ololo House, and UCA. International representatives from Facebook, Amazon Web Services UK, Cambridge Partnership, Dell, FabLab Bishkek and EGIS, along with other industry experts will conduct webinars on digital marketing, e-commerce, and digital transformation. Successful Kyrgyz tech entrepreneurs, including Tilek Mamutov (Outtalent), Esen Niiazov (Peaksoft), and Nikita Ryjih (FitJab) will share their experiences from working in the U.S. and international markets and provide tips for aspiring IT engineers and programmers.

This event is funded by the United States Agency for International Development (USAID) Future Growth Initiative with additional support from UKAID through Peak Kyrgyzstan, the Kyrgyz Software and Services Developer's Association, American University of Central Asia, University of Central Asia, Ololohaus, the American Chamber of Commerce in the Kyrgyz Republic, the U.S.-Kyrgyz Business Council, and the Delegation of German Economy for Central Asia, and 3B ICT Cluster.
