Mongolia to pay $100 to every citizen during lockdown

AKIPRESS.COM - Mongolian government decided to impose strict lockdown between April 10 and 25 due to hike in daily cases of coronavirus.

Prime Minister L.Oyun-Erdene announced after the Cabinet meeting that every citizen will receive a one-time grant of MNT 300 thousand (≈$100) as part of a lockdown relief initiative, Monstame reports.

The Prime Minister underscored that a decision has been made to distribute Oyu Tolgoi LLC’s taxes to citizens to, in particular, ensure that those who have been vaccinated stay home and keep from going outside until their vaccines take full effect within 14 to 21 days as recommended by the World Health organization. A total of MNT 1 trillion 26.5 billion has been accumulated in the state fund under the tax act imposed on Oyu Tolgoi.

Minister of Finance B.Javkhlan said the grants will be transferred starting from April 8.
