AKIPRESS.COM - First Deputy Foreign Minister of Uzbekistan Farkhod Arziyev met with Alexey Gromov, OSCE/ODIHR Senior Election Adviser who is leading needs assessment mission, UzA reported.

The OSCE/ODIHR delegation was informed about the fundamental reforms being carried out in the country, including measures to ensure rule of law, freedom of speech and press, protection of rights and freedoms of citizens, promotion of gender equality, development of youth, as well as improvement of electoral legislation in line with international standards.

The OSCE/ODIHR delegation will hold meetings in the Parliament, the Supreme Court, the Central Election Commission, ministries and agencies of Uzbekistan, with leaders of political parties and civil society representatives.
